Homemade Holidays 2009

8 January 2010 2 Comments

So here’s a review of most of the handmade gifts I made for family members this past Christmas.

We’ll start off with the nieces - such fun to make gifts for kids.

Katie loves bows and her mom suggested a bow holder. So I made her one, in her fave colors and personalized with her name.

She seemed to love it!

Then there was little River’s present.  I made her two soft blocks, one is filled with plastic bags and the other has stuffing and bells.  She’s too little for them right now, but not too long from now they should make great toys for her.

I made a cute little bunny and purse for Leah.  When we saw her she had just woken from a nap, but she hugged the bunny one minute and the next it was thrown on the ground. LOL

For my mom, I embroidered 7 tea towels. One is missing in the picture below.

But my favorite is this one with the basket.

Mom really liked them.

I gave my grandmother several of the Christmas Sentiment tea towels I had made.  I made Aunt Theresa a towel with Faith on it, but forgot to take a picture of it.

And gave Mike’s grandmother a tea towel with the Homemade Heartfelt design on it. For Mike’s mom, I painted her a sign with a quote from C.S.Lewis.  Aren’t those sheep just too cute?

For my sister and sister - in - law, I made the watercolor relief portraits of their kids.  They are 11×14 so they can get nice frames for them.

Doesn’t seem like much all wrapped up and distributed - amazing how much time they consumed! But I loved giving them - each was done with the recipient in mind.  I know they appreciated them.  I look forward to making many more gifts in the future!

Those watercolor relief paintings are wonderful, esp. the one of the little girl. Thanks for the link to the tutorial!
