Flavored Lip Gloss

17 December 2009 No Comment

Kacie and her friend, Kyra, had a product market at school today. They decided to make flavored lip glosses to sell.  Look how cute the turned out! I love how they colored the labels differently.

News today is that they sold out pretty quickly! I’m not surprised, they made me one (lemon berry flavored) and I’ve been using it since last Friday night!

Here’s how they did it -

Supplies:

Destructions Instructions:

  1. Put petroleum jelly in the paper cup.  Make sure to get enough - would be better to make more than needed then to end up short.   Yup, the girls learned that one pretty quickly.
  2. Microwave the petroleum jelly in the cup for 30 seconds on high.
  3. Stir the petroleum jelly and microwave for 30 more seconds.
  4. Add the drink mix until you get the flavor you want.  The more the drink mix, the stronger the flavor.

The girls made about 12 of each flavor (so 36 ml?) and ended up using about 1.5 to 2 drink mixes per flavor.  The girls tried several different things: Jello - not strong enough without getting a lipstain; Kool-Aid - not sweet enough and very tart…  Drink Mix - just right!

  6. Stir it until it’s mixed well.  If you feel its necessary, microwave for just a bit more.

  8. Then take the mixture and using your popsicle stick, grab some of that yummy stuff and put it into one of your containers.  This can get messy!

  10. Then put the lid on it and clean up the outside of the container.
  11. If you want, make labels on the printer - color them to make them to make them EXTRA special.

  13. Slap a label on it and call it done.  Let it set up for a bit and then try it out.

I think the girls did a great job!

If you make some, would love to hear about it!
