Old Red Barn Co. Quilt Along!
One of the items on my Summer List is to make a quilt for Kacie. We bought the fabric a while back - 12 1/2 yards and even some material for the backing. Kacie picked out each peice of fabric. I think she did a great job!

I’ve been going back and forth trying to figure out between two patterns of which to quilt. Now mind you I’ve never really quilted before. Sure I’ve made a couple of blankets over the years - like the picnic denim chenille blanket and a rag quilt for my sister… I even made a tied quilt many years ago for my sister in law (and it’s in my closet right now needing fixed). However, I’ve never really “quilted” anything… so this is going to be my first attempt. Mind you - while I want to do it sooo badly, it’s really intimidating, so I’ve been looking at this fabric, listening to my daughter say “Mom when are you going to make my quilt” and debating what the heck to do since February.
So what happens next? I stumbled upon Old Red Barn Co.’s Quilt Along last week! (There is an incentive in that I could win something by playing along too! LOL)
Guess how much fabric you need… 12 1/2 yards! Hello?? Coincendence? I think not! Must be Fate!
Granted, I’m behind the actual Quilt Along - they are in Week 3, I just finished Week 2 this weekend (and Week 3 might take me longer than one week). But I have started!

So here’s all my pretty little 2 1/2 inch strips. They are playing nicely with each other and are patiently awaiting me to take that next step. Hope they don’t have to wait too long!
I’m quite excited - as I’d love to design and make a quilt with embroidered panels - but thinking this quilt might be the first step toward that goal.
Keep Kraftin’

Yay! I am doing the quilt along too! I also have done very little quilting, this might be the ticket to getting more in love than I am already. Like not just looking at them love, but doing it, feeling it love.
I am nervous about week 3, I don’t have a machine… and have been wanting to hand piece and quilt. I might have to borrow someone’s machine or spend an afternoon at a friend’s house.
Good luck with your daughter’s quilt, the pieces are cut, can’t turn back now!
