A Tisket, A Tasket, Let’s Give Away A Basket!
It’s our first ever give away here at Sibling Craftery and I’m SOOOOO Excited! There are so many reasons to love and appreciate the craft blog community - from sharing tips and ideas to free patterns and give aways! So let’s get started shall we…
The basket full of goodies:

I decided to build upon a basket - who doesn’t love baskets? I know I can never have enough! Then I added items from different crafting areas that I’ve come to love over the last year - sewing and embroidery. I wanted to share that love with all of you!
First up - a cute little bottle cap pin cushion. I don’t have a good picture of it up close, but it’s in the basket on the far right. It’s little and it’s cute!
Next is the fabric. I have a love affair with fabric (Shhh, don’t tell the hubby!) I have to touch it and feel it and then think of a million ways to use it - it’s really not that hard - and then… well I buy it. Walking into any store with fabric endangers my pocketbook. I’m glad I can’t feel the fabric in the online stores or I’d have alot more in my fabric horde stash! These fabrics are 100% cotton, 1/2 yard of 3 Spring - colored fabrics for a total of 1 1/2 yards. I’m thinking this would make a really cute purse or tote, but of course the lucky winner can do as she/he would like

On to the embroidery supplies! We have an Aunt Martha’s Tea Towel, some embroidery needles and of course a hoop. I love embroidery - and tea towels are so quick and fun to do! They make great gifts to give away too!
I can’t give away a tea towel, with hoop and needles without giving away some floss! So here ya go - 10 skeins of DMC floss in Springtime colors. Now I’m sure with all the embroidery supplies you can surely find some free embroidery patterns … somewhere.. hehehe
There ya go - a basket full of fun! Now for the rules - which I hope I kept pretty simple…
-
Leave a comment telling me about your favorite craft or activity to do during Spring!(Remember when leaving a comment to either leave your blog/website URL or email address so I can contact you if you are the lucky winner!)
-
Tell your friends and family so they can try to win too!
That’s it! I’ll draw a winner Sunday (3/29/09) @ 6:00 PM CST using a random number generator. So - what are you waiting for? Comment and then go tell your friends/fam!
EDIT: This give away is open internationally - just in case you were wondering.
EDIT 3/29/09: Winner has been chosen.
Keep Kraftin’,
Kandra

This spring I will most likely to get as much sewing done as possible.
I love crafting outside. I have been known to be sitting in a lawn chair in a big heavy coat and knit, knit, knit (or crochet - I do them interchangeabley). Another great thing is to work on my hand quilting - then my quilt can keep my legs warm as I work - bonus!
And when the weather gets a little bit warmer, then out comes my embroidery and cross stitch! Oh there are just so many things to do - I love being in my yard!
Thanks for the great offer too, I’m posting it on my blog!
I don’t think my crafting habits change with the seasons. Embroidery, cross stitch and making felt…uh, things will still be going on, but I’ll try to do a few bunny projects for Easter. Thanks for doing the giveaway, Kandra! Great prizes!
My two favorite spring crafts are sewing and embroidery! Thanks for the great giveaway!
I’m not really a big crafter, but I like to paint my boys names on boards and hang them in their rooms!!
I love making little spring dresses for my girls. Gorgeous fabric your giving away !!
I love to cross stitch and sew in the spring! I especially like it when I can head outside and feel the breeze and the sun while I sit and sew. And all that natural light is wonderful!
What a generous giveaway! I’m currently looking for decent tea towels to embroider!
I’ve two nieces getting married this summer and that’s what I want to give as part of their shower gifts. This summer I’m looking forward to sitting outside and doing my blocks for the redwork quilt in working on. Thanks so much.
I usually love making summer clothes for my daughter, but we have tooo many this year so I am making her a dolly quilt and a princess cape. I hope to make some skirts for myself.
It also seems that I end up making a bunch of Birthday gifts too.
I like to do a lot of baking and cupcake/cake decorating in the spring. It’s funny how my crafting preferences change with the seasons. In the fall, I always get hot to start a quilt! January is always scrapbooking. The list goes on and on and on and on. lol!
What a great giveaway - I love that fabric. And I’ve had fun exploring your blog today.
http://marybt.wordpress.com
I love to decorate my fireplace! I make a new arrangement for my fireplace mantel that I can add to. Like for easter it gets a bunny and some eggs. I also like to make a new garland to hang across it. Oh and sewing, and embroidery and, well, everything and anything that doesn’t include cleaning!!!
This year I’m working on decorating our new home. I embroider a splasher now. I think spring is a great time to organize things, too, so I’m trying to do something with my stash- I try to do this every year
Thanks for the giveaway!
A Tisket , A tasket, I would love to win your basket and sit in the sun this spring ,hand sewing. Thank you for the chance.
Spring or any season, my favorite hobby is embroidery, always! I throw a little sewing in, but always come back to the embroidery.
Love the giveaway! Found u thru Patty, Pipstitch. Hugs and happy bloggin!
I like to fish, camp & spend time with my precious little girl outside in the spring. Especially now that she’s almost 2 & loves anything outside. Haven’t crafted in years & years then it was just crossstitching, might have to try embroidery if i win the basket.
This spring I am excited about getting back in to sewing and trying my hand at counted cross stitch.
Actually Needlepoint is my Springtime craft. I can take it outside on my deck and work on it even if it is windy, because the stretcher bars tend to weight the project down. At night time I tend to be quilting. Those springtime fabrics would make a nice litttle girlie quilt for my granddaughters dolls.
Joanie R.
wow, what a generous give away!!! i <3 that fabric on the far right, so funky!
I sew and embroider year round, so I’ll say that my favorite spring activity is to take walks late in the evening with my big ol dog and hubby since it is now warmer (yay!) and stays light out longer (yay!)
[...] a half-yard each of three spring fabrics; tea towels; and an embroidery hoop, needles, and floss. Go to the blog to enter before 6:00 p.m. (Central USA time) March 29. Open internationally. (2) Sassa Lynne is celebrating [...]
I have to start by saying how much I love your blog, I too have a sister that I love to craft with. My favorite spring activity is to make a new quilt for my bed for a fresh spring cleaning look. I also like to embroidery new tea towels for my kitchen because I can do those outside while my son plays in his sand box.
Love the goodies. I’ve been working on flower pins for my Etsy shop, so the fabric would be wonderful! Thanks for the giveaway.
I am quilting this spring, as I always am! Check out my work on my blog.
I started cross-stitching with kits, and have moved on to taking video game sprites and turning them into little gifts for friends (yea for cool sewing gifts that guys actually like!) I want to move on to embroidery, but it sounds so weird to not have a pattern, just a line that you can follow however you like, but I’m ready to try!
I mainly like to xstitch but, I also crazy quilt, mostly small things, like scissor cases and needlecases, and pincushions. Now that I have found your site I will return often.
I have been bite by the embroidery bug. I just did designs on the back of my girls jackets. I’m making some reusable canvas shopping bags look all sorts of fun. It’s amazing what a little floss and some imagination can yet you. I do hope I win. Thanks
I will be sewing many totes and decorating them with embroidery, appliques, & paint!
At the moment I’ve gotten back into embroidery but I am learning to sew right now as well so I hope that will be a favorite way to fill my time as well.
My list of projects is endless. I want to craft flowers, trees, and not to forget easter eggs, bunnies and little duckies. BUT, whether I get around to it all is another story. Thanks, great giveaway!
I like to sew in the Spring! That’s when I’ll make quilts or skirts or bags! It seems more inspirational with all the sunshine and the colors.
Hi
I am a quilter and I like to quilt year round. I’d love to win your giveaway. I love everything in your basket full of goodies!
Rhondi
Spring always makes me think of making skirts, dresses and bags!
Spring makes me jump ahead to summer projects - dresses for the littles, and lot of new fabric.
I knit and crochet every season! But I have a friend teaching me to sew and I’m picking up embroidery, so I might actually be doing something different this spring/summer.
I love to do more embroidery in the spring, after a long day of spring cleaning or gardening!
Thanks for this great giveaway!
I love to do some sewing (bags) and embroidery
Hmmm…..I’d have to say that my favorite springtime craft is embroidery because I can do it out on my back porch!
Embroidery will be on the top of the list for me (specially in spring and summer) , followed closely by sewing and every now and then the crochet bug bites (mostly in winter). Very kind of you for this great give away and for the previous sets of free embroidery patterns ! Also… thanks for the idea of giving away embroidery goods/supplies in such a lovely and formal way !
Embroidery is the springtime craft, especially redwork. It’s so nice to sit on the porch enjoying a warm breeze and the smell of flowers blooming. No more heavy quilts on my lap.
Embroidery brings in the colors of spring indoors for me. It’s my favorite time of the year but my allergies tend to dampen my enthusiasm a bit.
hello! i agree with the gals above who said embroidery for springtime…creating sweet little warm weather evening lap blankets with embroidered patchwork. thank you for offering this lovely giveaway - yay! all good wishes
I lover crafting very much…for spring I think embroidery and scrapbooking it’s really funtastic…i’d love to make blossom theme for my crafting project…spring for me it’s symbolize by flower bloom n sunrise…what a beautiful moments…even my country don’t have spring season but when i saw in internet about spring it’s make me feel so happy…lucky you who can feel real spring season…^__^
Hey There!
You asked an impossible question…I love all crafts and I tend to diversify all the time! My first spring project: I just finished a crochet headscarf/bandana!
Good luck for us all! YAY
I can’t wait to start sewing some new skirts for spring. Although I don’t think I can ever stop knitting socks!
My favourite spring craft is making fresh new soft furnishings for the house like a new throw quilt, or placemats, or cushion covers. It feels like a whole new house!
Well, no spring here. But I would want to make more spring theme hedgehog.
My favourtie spirng craft is my favorite year around craft: crazy quilting and stitching samplers. Your drawing would be great stash enhancements for my pasttimes. Please enter my name in your drawing.
My spring craft is the same year round, I cross stitch and do some beading, although receently I have started to do redwork. I really like all needle work. I would love to be entered in your drawing
What a generous batch of goodies! Thank you so much! My favorite activity is definitely sewing, although my love for fabric collage may surpass it soon!
Wow I love this little basket of goodies!
I’m relatively new to the world of crafting, but I make soft toys and random little things out of felt. I’ve recently discovered the joys of embroidery and I have a feeling this will be my spring time fling!!
What a great giveaway, thanks! This Spring I know I will be sewing curtains and cushions and other home stuff for our new house.
I plan to learn to embroider this spring! So this basket would be perfect for my new endevour! Other than that sewin and scrapbook are my go to vices. There is just so much yummy spring-ish fabric or scrapbook paper out right now! Ilove all the gorgeous colors!
SMS tweet sent me over - great giveaway:) I’m off to look around your site now
I just posted about this giveaway on my twitter account! http://twitter.com/cheeziemommie
Since we live in AK and are cooped up quite a bit in the winter, crafting actually starts to take a back seat once spring arrives here. It’s still winter here though so that wonderful cheery basket would be put to immediate use! Getting outside and hiking are our favorite activities come spring but when the nice weather disappears out come an eclectic bunch of crafting supplies/tools/materials - sewing being at the top of the list. I’d like to teach my daughters embroidery next so this basket would be a perfect start! Thanks for offering it!
I really wanted to make my girls Easter dresses this year! It didn’t happen, but I already have plans for NEXT year’s dresses! Lovely basket, by the way; I LOVE that embroidery floss! All the pretty colors!
maxandellie{at}gmail{dot}com
lovely basket full of goodies! I just love all kinds of spring crafts! I love looking at the colors especially when it still looks grey and wintery around here
i love to sew all year round, but this spring is my first opportunity to sew spring clothes for my baby girl!! i have a few oliver+s patterns to dig into, and round them off with a few sundresses and bloomers from weekend sewing!
spring. . . things I can take out into the sunshine–stitching, knitting, hand sewing. Still, a mama can’t help but make fun summer things for her kiddos, too.
I really got into sewing again right before Christmas, and I am excited to make some clothes for my girls this Spring. I don’t know how to do sleeves yet, so I didn’t try too many clothing things for them over the winter. Now, though, I am ready to make some fun dresses!
Now that it’s spring, it’s time to put away the wool that I’ve been knitting with. I’m going to dedicate a good amount of my warm weather crafting time to sewing and quilting.
For the spring I am working on a couple of things… I am creating the Amy Butler Birdie Sling bag, working on a set of hot pads for myself and a set for my grandma, and a set of tea towels for a friend of mine who loves hand made things.
I would love to learn to sew a skirt this spring…
As of now, I’ve put away knitting and picked up cross-stitching.
Plus I’m surrounding myself with shiny colors… Those fabrics and threads really would make my day!!!
Thanks for the fantastic giveaway… and for giving a chance to us internationals!
I love to sew dresses and tops for my daughters. I havent been sewing very long so its really only been one spring and summer but I made some totes as well last year it was fun! thanks for the giveaway
I love to make skirts in the spring. I have three daughters and we all love fun skirts.
In the spring I like to sew for my house: new tablecloth and runner, lightweight blankets, embroidered tea towels…it will be fall before I’m finished though!
I love to sew spring dresses for my daughter.
Spring makes me want to sew cute spring skirts (first try, not so successful), and cute fun purses! Spring is also a time for new babies (why is that, anyways?) which brings to mind sewing baby stuff for gifts, and fun NEW FABRIC! woo hoo!
This spring I am going to be focusing on quilts and skirts/dresses for my daughter. Maybe a skirt or two for me as well!
Lovely goodies!! Spring always brings on my garden fever, but I always get in the mood to start scrapbooking. Right now though, I am sewing some purses. P.S. I share your fabric-love!
What a sweet giveaway! This spring I’ve been into making handbags for swaps, friends, and myself.
Thanks for the giveaway! I love this fabric. Right now, I’m planning lots of kids clothes. Lots of time in the sewing room.
Awesome! Thanks for all the generosity…my favorite spring thing is to dig out all my refinishing projects that I’ve hoarded over the winter, and then make the requires cushions and pillows!
What a great little gift. Thanks for the chance. I am sewing all sorts of things for some new little ones on their way - blankets, burp cloths…!
Ooh, great fabric, and embroidery stuff, too! I just started learning to embroider, and I think I’m hooked. Like I needed another craft…
I work in a garden center so we use the spring to seed, grow and plant all sorts of plants! It’s probably one of the best ways to beat the Wisconsin Winter Blues!
i love to sew things in beautiful spring colors, maybe some little dresses for the little girl or a sweet bag, i’d love to win some new fabric:)
I just started quilting and I will probably quilt my spring away!
Sewing a new purse and going for long walks to enjoy all the springtime blossoms!
This spring it is baby season for my friends, so I am sewing up a ton of baby gifts! Thanks for the great giveaway!
Spring is my favourite time of year ..with all the cherry blossoms that line the streets bursting out in flower !!
I always find myself making cute bags with embroidery around this time of year..as I am inspired to start making gifts for Christmas and upcoming birthdays !
My other fave project for spring are little girl’s simple twirly skirts .
PS LOVE your blog !!
Spring is when I really get geared up about purses! I love to make many bags for many different outings…beach, market, night out on the town…and all in fun playful colours.
I am all about purses and bags and I just started a redwork Christmas project.
In spring I put away my heavy crafts like knitting and quilting, and move on to some wood working, basket weaving and sewing. Also, it’s time for the gardening, so much of my time is spent knee deep, well, more like elbow deep in the dirt. I love creating signage for the garden, including painted rocks. Most of a spring crafting must be able to be moved out-of-doors because that’s where I want to spend all my time. Thanks for the chance to win!
Even though I sew a lot of purses for my business, my favorite thing to sew lately are doll clothes! My little girl (age 2) is very focused on her doll right now. I have been making her new outfits so she can change her clothes over and over (and over and over!). This weekend, I want to make her doll a mini tutu and mini bunny slippers!
Thanks for the chance to win this great giveaway! I love it all!
This spring it will be “double” strolling!
And BBQ mania. (My link above didn’t work so here it is. *grin)
Sewing and hooking rugs
*Thanks* for the giveaway!
I love to make cards and start making new baby blankets with the new patterns that come out for spring. The colors are so refreshing.
Thanks for the giveaway.
In spring I go through all my fabric and make twirly dresses for my daughter and matching clothes for her bears. I like mixing all different fabrics together.
This is an awesome giveaway, thank you for sharing!
I usually do crafty things that I can take into the garden with me. Next Spring, as in Australia we are approaching Autumn, I plan on doing lots of hexies. Fabric as well as crochet.
Love that fabric!
Thanks for this great giveaway! I love this basket!!!
I like to make bracelets and necklaces.
What a great collection, love the pincushion. What a great basket of supplies!!!!
Oooo! Lovely basket of goodies! My fave thing to do at springtime is make Easter dresses for my 4 girls and a matching tie for my son! I love Easter!
My favourite craft for spring is the same as my favourite craft for most of the year: knitting.
Spring means time for a new bag!! those fabrics would make a REALLY CUTE new bag!! Thanks for the chance to win!

I love to break out the cute fabrics and make clothes for my little ones!
I want to start a baby quilt, but I’m still knitting up baby hats!
I love the basket!! How cute! Love the website too!!
Love the website. love the fabric
Ooohhh. I love everything in that cute basket! I really love to make tote bags and pretty pillows in the spring in light and airy colors. I am so glad spring is here. I can’t wait for warm, sunny weather everyday!
Thanks for including me in the drawing, Lora
You have assembled a beautiful basket! I think that this spring, the kids and I will take the watercolors out into the yard and paint spring. I think we may cut shapes out of some of our pages to make collage pictures. Now I just need the sun to come out and scare away the rain! Thanks Lora.
What a wonderful basket of goodies. I’m swooning over the fabric.
Spring brings forth my craftiness all over again, it seems to hibernate in the winter months. Right now I’m having a blast making lots of different pillows and itching to start on window treatments for my kitchen
Oooooo, I love give-aways and this one looks like so much fun. I love the different craft options you’ve covered. Right now I’m busy making curtains and couch pillows for my new apartment. I’ve also just grabbed a copy of Heather Ross’s Weekend Sewing and can’t wait to make some things out of it. And I’ve been eyeing a free pattern from Made by Rae (http://madebyrae.blogspot.com/) - super cute buttercup purse. Gosh, my sewing plate is getting full, but it’s nice to have it that way.
Thanks for the great give-away!
Love the basket!
Verrrryyy nice! Springtime pulls me outside with clay pot painting and stencilling. Then inside for some stained glass and pretty embroidered tea towels, and pillowcases. (First, I’ll need to finish that darn doorway hanging, though.) Thanks for the handy site and the marvelous give-a-way!
It seems like I tend to knit more in the winter and quilt more in the spring.
Love everything you included in the basket, those spring fabrics are gorgeous.
My favorite craft to do anytime of year is quilting! Thanks for the chance.
Such a nice Web site and a nice giveaway. I’ve been doing lots of reverse applique from the Alabama Stitch book. Have worked on the skirt with the leaves and have a few projects in mind to recycle some old t-shirts.

Such a nice giveaway!
Right now I am getting into quilting. I am going to start during the summer so hopefully something will be done to keep warm this winter!
I love doing any spring crafting, just as long as it has flowers in! This year I am about to try doing some embroidery with soluble fleece. Fingers crossed
Oh my goodness… that basket makes me drool… I think I have a problem! My favorite recently is sewing… I just finished a “scrap skirt” for my daughter… It’s so fast (think pieced fabric tube with elastic) and I’ve been so busy that I felt the need to fit a craft quickie in during naptime. It’s using the coordinating materials (hence the “scrap”) from my oldest daughter’s dress so I think they will wear them for Easter. Oooo… I love sewing for them right now. I would probably use your basket supplies in a similar fashion.
Would love to win your giveaway. I always love to quilt in the spring, summer, fall & especially winter.
I think I’m in just under the wire . . I’m having fun right now working on a huge basketful of fabric easter eggs based on the tutorial over at retromama’s blog. Great way to use up some scraps!
- Donna

What a wonderful give away, I love to sew anything. quilts, toys, clothes.
Nicely put-together basket!
I have a few friends w/babies on the way . . . so looks like I’m be doing some baby creations this spring: )
I would love to make baby quilt…which i plan to make for charity this spring…
In spring, I like to do small little projects that I can easily take with me to the porch, outside or indoors when it gets dark. I always make a doily to take to the fair in July so I start work on it in the spring! I just ordered my cotton thread for it (size 40!) and it should be here any day!
[...] a very happy day in craftblog land! I just got word from Kerry at Freckled Beauties recieved her basket full of goodies! I can’t wait to see what she decides to try with those embroidery supplies. She’s a [...]
I love quilting any time of the year because there are always birthdays, weddings, births etc that I make gifts to give. Usually in the spring I choose to make smaller projects that I can take with me anywhere.
